Long-standing fans of Gloucester City AFC have donated more than 20,000 of their shares to the Supporters’ Trust, which will give the Trust more than 15% ownership of the club.
The Trust has this morning delivered stock transfer forms to the football club, totalling 22,083 ordinary shares in Gloucester City Association Football Club (1980) Ltd which the shareholders have agreed to transfer to Gloucester City Supporters Ltd (the Trust’s incorporated body). This will make the Trust the third largest shareholder.
Speaking on behalf of the Trust Board and members, GCST chair Robin Mogg said:
This is a hugely symbolic and important moment that puts supporters at the heart of the club we love, cements our commitment to supporting the club in the future, and recognises the time, effort and money the Trust has given to the club over the last 20 years.
We’re extremely grateful to those shareholders who have shown such generosity in transferring their shares. Over the last few months the Trust has been carrying out the painstaking process of identifying, tracing and contacting more than 150 shareholders and beneficiaries and there is potential to acquire a further 7% if the remaining shares are transferred.”
All Trust members will now become part owners of the football club. There has never been a better time to join the Supporters Trust.
